Love the BlackBerry smartphone that you can’t get enough of its keyboard as well as blinking red light which keeps you occupied for most of the day? Well, good thing you aren’t residing in the UAE where the country has apparently banned the used of BlackBerry services due to the government demanding for RIM to allow them access to all messages sent and received, with RIM not budging (good for them). Well, those living Stateside can still have their healthy, daily dose of BlackBerry, this time round with Cricket delivering the BlackBerry Curve 8530 whcih will be accompanied by a pocket friendly 3G BlackBerry plan, now how about that for helping subscribers out during times of economic hardship?

Cricket will be offering the BlackBerry Curve 8530 for $299.99, where it will come with Cricket’s true rate $60 BlackBerry Plan. For $60, what can you get? For starters, we’re talking about unlimited nationwide talk, text, email, web browsing, picture mail and even international text capabilities, all done over Cricket’s all 3G network – yep, that’s right, you won’t have to worry about the signal dropping to EDGE or GPRS any more in selected areas. Of course, the $60 will also include all forms of taxes and fees save for applicable sales text, but if you’re a heavy duty user, then this will certainly sound extremely appealing considering you can go nuts with all your text messaging and email without burning a hole in your wallet. Parents might want to consider this option for their kids as well, especially those who have been bundled off to college, as it helps them keep in touch without costing too much.

Just to recap, the BlackBerry Curve 8530 will come with a comfortable full-QWERTY keyboard, a high-resolution 320 x 240 pixel color display (pretty average for a BlackBerry, but don’t compare it to iPhone or Android-powered smartphones), BlackBerry Messenger, access to thousands of applications via BlackBerry App World, a powerful media player, a 2-megapixel camera with video recording capability, integrated GPS navigation, Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g) and Bluetooth connectivity. Media can be stored over a microSD memort card, so getting one with larger capacity is always a good idea.

Change your bike’s gears, with your mind

Lately, I have been teaching my son to ride a bicycle, and it reminds me of my days of awkward bike riding. I remember that I had a hard time with changing the gears, but what if I could do it with my mind? Parlee Cycles is apparently working on a concept bicycle made of carbon fiber that does just that. It is part of Toyota Prius Projects, and it uses a helmet equipped with neurotransmitters to read a wearer’s brainwaves. A wireless transmitter attached to the bike’s seat post gets the signal, and changes the gear. As you might of guessed, this is still a concept. In fact, the developer hasn’t quite got the brain control working and still using a smartphone for the controls. I have heard of neuro-controls being used before, but I am guessing the technology isn’t quite as good as Bluetooth. iMM514 ArtStation Pro

I’ve seen some products from iLuv before, and the iMM514 ArtStation Pro is good for turning an iPad into a home theater. As you can see, the iPad is mounted in an articulated swiveling arm so you can position it at whatever angle you want, in landscape or portrait mode. In case you are wondering why there is such a big base, it is because it has a huge stereo speaker. In other words, this base has bass. There is also a wireless remote for volume and skipping tracks, and it looks like there are some controls on the base for when you lose the remote. As I mentioned before, iLuv has put out a lot of Apple accessories, and I will have to admit that this is one of the most unusual that I have seen. In fact, I am not even sure what kind of aesthetic that this is. The arm thing reminds me of Technic Lego pieces. I suppose the case is like a big Lego brick without and studs on it. Nice.
