PLC-WU3800 projector By Sanyo

Image
Sanyo has just announced their latest compact, portable Wide XGA projector, going by the model number PLC-WU3800, where this particular model will boast of the highest brightness in its class at 3800 lumens. It is effective even in well-lit offices, conference rooms and classrooms, and you do not need to be a rocket scientist in order to set it up nicely, never mind that you are a first time user yourself thanks to the Auto Setup Function. Offering advanced display functions that include Picture in Picture and Picture by Picture, we do know that Sanyo has competitively priced the PLC-WU3800 at $1,995. Sporting a high performance optical engine that delivers a high aperture ratio LCD panel with 1280 x 800 True WXGA native resolution, it will also feature improved light efficiency as well as effective cooling technology, letting it cram in a high output 275-watt lamp that delivers 3800 Lumens of brightness. Apart from that, this model comes with a 16:10 aspect ratio so tha

MicroVision SHOWWX+ PicoP display engine

Image
I decided to take a break on reporting on gaming gadgets, and focus on some other form of consumer electronics at the E3 gaming Expo. I always like seeing the latest in pico projectors, and I would have to say that the SHOWWX+ laser pico projector is one of the smallest that I have seen. At a height of .55 inches and width of 2.36 inches, it is able to create an impressive image up to 100 inches in size, with WVGA resolution (848 x 480). According to the manual and what I saw at E3, it should “project on any surface, curved, moving or still, without having to focus or refocus”. The battery is good for about 2 hours worth of use, and it is great for sharing videos, photos, and presentations in a 16:9 aspect ratio with a brightness of 15 lumens. The SHOWWX+ is designed to work with all kinds of mobile devices, like the iPhone, iPod, or iPad. A VGA dock is sold separately, which should be good for laptops, netbooks, and the Macbook. It also has a composite adapter

Epson PowerLite X9 projector to the fore

Image
Another day, another projector, and this time around we have the Epson PowerLite X9 that will target the education market without breaking the bank. Yes sir, this new projector is capable of delivering up to 2,500 lumens of color and white light output alongside XGA resolution for just $599 – making it a suitable addition as well to any small or medium sized conference rooms. It is no surprise that many states in the US are already experiencing budget cuts, and one of the sectors to be hit pretty badly is the education segment, so it makes perfect sense for companies who deal with educational equipment to do their bit to help America out of the pit they’re in by lowering their profit margin and charging schools less for equipment – and we believe the Epson PowerLite X9 projector is one of such an instance. Among the convenient features of the PowerLite X9 that will light up (no pun intended) the classroom and boardroom are :- USB Plug ‘n Play Instant Setup: Instantly pro

Camcorder Projector hits Hammacher

Hammacher Schlemmer has had a long, 163-year history that delivers nothing but what they deem to be the best for home consumers, giving you devices and items that are supposed to make life at home more comfortable and convenient. Of course, in the face of ever changing technology, it makes perfect sense for them to deliver up-to-date gizmos and gadgets, and the Camcorder Projector is definitely one of them. The Camcorder Projector is actually a high-definition camcorder which is capable of instantly projecting video or still pictures onto any flat surface as its name suggests. This will, of course, depend on whether the surroundings are dark enough, and whether you have a light colored wall (white is best to maintain the color shown of course). As to whether it will support full High Definition or not, you will need to read on in the extended post. For something so small, it doesn’t do full HD video recording which can be a downside for some, since several other more no

Wowwee Cinemin Slice on display at CES 2011

Image
Wowwee has done much with projectors, like the Cinemin Swivel, and they put their best foot forward on display at CES Unveiled last night with the Cinemin Slice. The Slice is a portable pico-projector that is designed for Apple products such as the iPod, iPod Touch, new iPod Nano, iPhone and iPad. It comes with the docking trays for them all. It also has a Mini-HDMI and AV ports for other Personal Media Players (PMPs), as well as a VGA port for a PC, laptop, or netbook. For those that want their content on the big screen, it can do this. It is able to make a 60-inch image from about 10 feet away, with a viewable range of 125 inches. The resolution is WVGA at (854 x 480), a 16:9 aspect ratio, and it is very bright at 16 ANSI lumens. I have used projectors before, and have found that most of them are weak when it comes to sound. This doesn’t seem to be the case for the Cinemin Slice which has 6 watt stereo speakers. Other features include a headphone jack as well as an inf

Optoma GT100 Mini Projector

Image
Mini projectors haven’t really caught on ever since they were introduced to the masses some time ago, and we’re guessing that’s because there really isn’t a deep rooted need for one of these puppies. Well, that doesn’t mean manufacturers will stop churning out such devices, otherwise we wouldn’t have the £229.99 Optoma GT100 Mini Projector to play around with. Capable of throwing an image of up to 75-inches in size, the Optoma GT100 will play nice with just about any video game console, set top box, DVD players, notebooks as well as other compatible devices onto any flat surface. The brightness level needs some looking into though at just 50 lumens, which means your room will need to be pretty dark – otherwise your audience will be treated to washed otu colors. Apart from that, external speakers are a must if you’re watching a movie on this thing since the integrated 1.5w speaker isn’t going to add much ambience to the whole situation. Maxing out at WVGA resolution (854

AAXA Technologies has new M1 Ultimate Micro Projector

Image
Pico projectors, tiny projectors, micro projectors, they’re all the same. After all, didn’t the Bard once said, “A rose by any other name would smell just as sweet”? Well, the world of pico projectors have certainly come a long way since their introduction to the world. We would say that earlier iterations were tiny and highly portable, but when it comes to performance, a lot is left to be desired. After all, their colors looked washed out, even unviewable under an averagely lighted room. AAXA Technologies might think that they have a game changer on their hands though with the new M1 Ultimate Micro Projector which we will look at in greater detail in the extended post. The M1 Ultimate will come in a sleek brushed aluminum case, helping deliver a sharp, modern look. Of course, as with any new iteration of a product, you should expect new features, otherwise there wouldn’t be any point in rolling it out, is there? Some of the new features include a new onboard back-lit ke

Sanyo PLC-HF10000L QuaDrive projector lights up the world

Image
Sanyo’s PLC-HF10000L QuaDrive projector is something that you might want to look into if you have the budget as well as the needs – after all, those who want an authentic cinematic experience would do well to check it out. Boasting a resolution of 2048 x 1080 pixels which by far exceeds the requirements for Full HD resolution, it will come equipped with Sanyo-exclusive QuaDrive technology, making it a native widescreen 3LCD projector that can deliver a mind-shattering 10,000 ANSI lumen brightness with a very wide color gamut, making it the perfect solution if you want to target mid- to large venue presentation markets. Check out what the Sanyo PLC-HF10000L QuaDrive projector has to offer in the extended post. First of all, more on Sanyo’s QuaDrive technology – it will be able to throw in a yellow color control device to the red, green and blue elements of the projector’s existing 3LCD system. Being able to automatically control the amount of yellow light in the image, yo

Red Bull’s Extreme Promotion includes a 21-foot Eyeball

Image
I thought you might want to see this interesting use of projection technology, even if you don’t like Red Bull. Red Bull may have sponsored this stunt for extreme snowboarders and skiers, but the projection was designed by a Melbourne interactive group ENESS. You can watch the video of it after the jump, and see the nifty projections on the ramp as well as the 21-foot inflatable sphere in the middle. In case you are wondering, the snowboards and skiers have an infrared camera tracking them. This explains how the eyeball is able to follow their jump as they go. I think what is interesting is how the projectors can put images on the ramp that make it appear invisible and to have a frame. The confetti effect is also quite interesting. Of course, the question remains: where else can we use this technology? That is a good question. I can’t think of any other promotions that would merit from tech like this. Not off the top of my head. Wait, I got a sweet idea. Is

MiLi Power Projector for iPhone/iPod

Image
Everyone knows that the iPhone isn’t exactly the most long lasting device in the market – after all, it does tend to run out of juice pretty fast if you use plenty of features and functions such as reading and replying email, surfing the Internet over 3G while listening to a variety of music on the go. There have been cases in the past that includes a built-in battery while offering protection – but the MiLi Power Projector for iPhone/iPod goes one up by offering a built-in projector. Yes, sir, you can project images and video from the iPod or iPhone up to 70-inches in size onto a suitable surface like a wall or screen, but the price to pay – £239.95, might be a wee bit steeper than what you’re used to. Of course, you can also dock it to your iPad, iPod touch, Blackberry and most other media players/phones if the need arises. The resolution is nothing to shout about though, at just 640 x 480 VGA with an LED bulb that lasts up to 20,000 hours.

3M MPro150 pico projector review

Image
Pico projectors seem to catch on these days, but they aren’t exactly taking over the world by storm. The good people over at 3M has sent us a MPro150 pico projector, and after playing with it for some time, I would like to pen down my two cents’ worth and hope that it will help you decide on whether this is the pico projector for you, assuming you were looking for one in the first place. First of all, I must say that technology has certainly advanced at a crazy pace – ask anyone whether something like this is possible a couple of decades ago and they will probably laugh in your face, thinking that you have escaped from a mental asylum while letting you know that there is as much chance of that happening as with a multi-touch glass display used for computing. Let’s get down to the nitty gritty right after the jump, eh? First off, the hardware specifications. The 3M Mpro150 pico projector is a looker for a device of its size, and you will marvel at how light it is compa

Epson has two more projectors for the market

Image
Epson seems to do really well in the projector market, churning out new models time and again, making them the number-one selling projector brand worldwide. Well, they certainly aren’t going to rest on their laurels, having announced a couple of affordable, feature-packed and easy to use projectors which will target both small and medium-sized businesses. We will look at the Epson PowerLite 1220 and the PowerLite 1260, where the former will cost $649 while the latter is a Benjamin more expensive. The PowerLite 1220 will feature XGA resolution, while the PowerLite 1260 has a higher resolution at widescreen WXGA, boasting 16:10 aspect ratio in order to fully utilize the capabilities of a widescreen notebook. Both models will sport 2600 lumens color and white light output that ought to make them suitable for bright presentations and true-to-life color. We will look at both models in greater detail after the jump. First off, the Epson PowerLite 1200 series will del

Image
Sanyo is working hard around the clock to roll out the PDG-DWL2500J, its latest ultra short-focus projector that features the ability to handle stereoscopic 3D – isn’t that what everyone seems to be trending towards these days? Boasting an extremely compact design that measures around half the size of a standard projector model, this one can project large images from an ever decreasing distance, and we do hope that you have 3D-capable playback devices to hook it up to. After all, what’s the point of having such a capability when there are no movies of your choice to go along with it, eh? Press Release

Samsung and 3LCD team up for first 3LCD LED projector

Image
Samsung and 3LCD (you know where they’re heading by the names alone) have joined forces, and this time round their collaboration has resulted in the first 3LCD LED projector in the world known as the F10M. The announcement of the Samsung F10M was made earlier this year at CES 2010, and will also hold another record by being the first LED-based projector with 1,000 lumens in the world. Offering a light life of up to over 30,000 hours as well as XGA resolution, you will be able to throw an image size range from 40″ to 300″, complete with HDMI input and PC connectivity. 3LCD’s technology offers efficient use of light, and thanks to its LED light source, the F10M is able to offer customers an extremely energy efficient projector option, while making it the brightest LED projector in the projection industry simultaneously. Apart from its pretty impressive specifications for an LED projector, this model also comes with instant on/off functionality, which basically means it do

Epson VS400 projector is easy on your pockets

Image
Now here’s a little trivia question for you – which is the top selling projector brand worldwide? The answer is pretty easy, we’re talking about Epson here, and most recently, they have just introduced a new series of high-brightness, low-cost projectors that ought to keep most folks happy since it will not break the bank. The Epson VS400 will offer presenters XGA resolution and 4,000 lumens color and white light output for ultra-bright presentations and vibrant color, regardless of whether you are in a conference room or classroom. Of course, it isn’t exactly suitable for outdoor use, but then again outdoor projectors have a very different price range. The Eson VS400 will be a simple, bright, easy-to-use projector that is capable of offering up to 4,000 lumens of brightness without surpassing the $1,000 mark, making it the ideal value-centric option for anyone who doesn’t need advanced connectivity options. Thanks to the integration of the latest 3LCD, 3-chip technology,

Acer Canada to roll out new 3D projectors

Image
Acer Canada has plans to introduce new 3D video projectors for the masses in the Great White North, where it is made possible thanks to a clever combination of the projectors’ DLP 3D projection capabilities as well as high refresh rates. Because of that, a flat surface of any wall can be turned into an impromptu 3D screen, just make sure that the color is light enough (white is best) for the best image quality, since a yellow or orange painted wall can be quite disconcerting on the eyes when you project a video. We will take a closer look at the projectors in the extended post. The Acer X1230PS will target home theater enthusiasts, as it offers brilliant visuals regardless of whether you are viewing video, game content or photos among others. There is an incredible level of realism and video immersion achieved via this short-throw projector, where you will be able to enjoy clear, large images up to 109-inches diagonal even while positioned as close as 6.5-feet from the s
