First Wired Headset



BlueAnt’s signature is their range of wireless devices, more often than not using Bluetooth technology to have them “talk” to other compatible devices while eliminating the presence of wires in your life. Well, perhaps the boffins over at BlueAnt figured out that there is a market for wired devices, which is why the Embrace headset that has already started shipping is the first BlueAnt wired device.

First of all, the Embrace stereo headphones are said to reproduce the full audio detail and range faithfully as the artist intended, without having to manipulate or enhance the bass and treble. The on-ear Embrace will still give users a healthy degree of control, as they are able to choose and adjust EQ settings over their personal compatible device to match their preferences. The Embrace is said to come with an integrated in-line remote control that makes music playback volume control a snap, while the microphone enables you to switch between listening to music or watching a video to attending to an incoming call – hands-free, of course.

With conforming ear pads thrown into the mix, you more or less get a noise-isolating seal that will block out unwanted background noise. Since it has a standard 3.5mm audio jack, it ought to play nice with most portable media players out there. Apart from that, the headphones will also be accompanied by an OMTP adapter, where it further expands support for the microphone and remote.

Each $199.99 purchase of the BlueAnt Embrace will come with a 1-year limited warranty. Any takers?

Change your bike’s gears, with your mind

Lately, I have been teaching my son to ride a bicycle, and it reminds me of my days of awkward bike riding. I remember that I had a hard time with changing the gears, but what if I could do it with my mind? Parlee Cycles is apparently working on a concept bicycle made of carbon fiber that does just that. It is part of Toyota Prius Projects, and it uses a helmet equipped with neurotransmitters to read a wearer’s brainwaves. A wireless transmitter attached to the bike’s seat post gets the signal, and changes the gear. As you might of guessed, this is still a concept. In fact, the developer hasn’t quite got the brain control working and still using a smartphone for the controls. I have heard of neuro-controls being used before, but I am guessing the technology isn’t quite as good as Bluetooth. iMM514 ArtStation Pro

I’ve seen some products from iLuv before, and the iMM514 ArtStation Pro is good for turning an iPad into a home theater. As you can see, the iPad is mounted in an articulated swiveling arm so you can position it at whatever angle you want, in landscape or portrait mode. In case you are wondering why there is such a big base, it is because it has a huge stereo speaker. In other words, this base has bass. There is also a wireless remote for volume and skipping tracks, and it looks like there are some controls on the base for when you lose the remote. As I mentioned before, iLuv has put out a lot of Apple accessories, and I will have to admit that this is one of the most unusual that I have seen. In fact, I am not even sure what kind of aesthetic that this is. The arm thing reminds me of Technic Lego pieces. I suppose the case is like a big Lego brick without and studs on it. Nice.
