Qi tilted wireless charging platform


ConvenientPower lights up CEATEC 2011 in Japan with what they dub to be the world’s first Qi tilted wireless charging platform, which is extremely special in a sense since it boasts an in-use-while-charging design as well as functionality for Qi compliant smartphones.

According to Bas Fransen, Chief Marketing Officer of ConvenientPower, “Customers are continually looking for wireless charging solutions which not only charge their smartphones, but also allow them to continue using their smartphones while charging. ConvenientPower’s Qi tilted wireless charger slants at a vertical diagonal for intuitive, convenient video conferencing in portrait mode or watching video clips, movies in landscape mode while charging at the same time. This is a first in Qi wireless charging.”

Just what will the world’s first Qi tilted wireless charger feature? For starters, it will come with ConvenientPower’s cutting-edge hybrid Litz PCB coil array technology, which recently picked up approval by the industry’s Wireless Power Consortium as a new Qi-based wireless charger option. Not only that, ConvenientPower is not going to rest on their laurels but has also rolled out yet another world’s first – we’re talking about the iPhone 4 5-watt Qi compatible wireless power receiver that is said to offer the fastest Qi, full charging of an iPhone 4. Guess the wireless revolution when it comes to charging your gadgets is fast catching on, and packing it for your travels has gotten a whole lot easier as there are no messy cables to tie together and neither do you have an excuse to stock up on rubber bands any more.

To date, Qi has remained the only universal standard for compatible wireless charging where any devices enabled with Qi can be charged, as long as said charging surface sports the Qi logo – it does not matter the brand or manufacturer behind it.

Wi-Fi Connected Power Strip

If you are like me, you have “that desk” in your house that is sort of the hub for digital information. On the desk is a laptop or desktop computer, and all kinds of accessories. Chances are, all of these devices are plugged in to a power strip, and they are a source of great power consumption on your monthly electric bill. This power strip by Japan-based Ubiquitous is the iRemoTap, and it has a built-in Wi-Fi module. The purpose of the Wi-Fi is so it can send information to connected devices in the household. The iRemoTap can automatically send out some sort of message like an email or tweet so you know how much energy that you are consuming. iMM514 ArtStation Pro

I’ve seen some products from iLuv before, and the iMM514 ArtStation Pro is good for turning an iPad into a home theater. As you can see, the iPad is mounted in an articulated swiveling arm so you can position it at whatever angle you want, in landscape or portrait mode. In case you are wondering why there is such a big base, it is because it has a huge stereo speaker. In other words, this base has bass. There is also a wireless remote for volume and skipping tracks, and it looks like there are some controls on the base for when you lose the remote. As I mentioned before, iLuv has put out a lot of Apple accessories, and I will have to admit that this is one of the most unusual that I have seen. In fact, I am not even sure what kind of aesthetic that this is. The arm thing reminds me of Technic Lego pieces. I suppose the case is like a big Lego brick without and studs on it. Nice.
